Curricula differ in content. Children who have been in a state or private school and transfer to ACE will need to have diagnostic testing to ascertain exactly the areas they have already covered. ACE Diagnostic Tests cover the complete curriculum from the earliest level and help us to pinpoint any areas of weakness or gaps in the child's knowledge. This is especially the case in Maths and English, as ACE is rather more rigorous in these subjects.

The Diagnostic Tests are provided in Maths (Primary and Intermediate), English Grammar and Word Building (Spelling).

Diagnostic Testing is vital to starting your child off on the right level of curriculum.  Whatever happens, please resist the temptation to help them with the tests; the Academy doesn't need to know what you can do, or even what a committee of you, your child and uncle Joe can do!  Mistakes in diagnosis can be frustrating for all concerned and a waste of both time and money.  Please follow the instructions and if in doubt, phone the TEACH (ASIA) Academy.

Children who begin their schooling with ACE do not need Diagnostic Tests.  The Academy strongly recommends that they should be put through the ABCs Learning to Read Programme (approximately 22 weeks), even if they are already able to read, as  the phonic basis of this programme clears up any latent weaknesses and provides the most thorough and sound basis available for future learning.

If your child does not read, he should be given the Reading Readiness Test, which, as the name suggests, determines the readiness of a child to learn to read.  Do try to be objective in marking this test, as that is in your child's best interests.
